I was listening with interest to the "town hall" meeting via telephone last night. A few comments were made about the emergency department but answers were traditional and did not address the concerns expressed which are also my concerns. To say that real emergencies will be attended to as a priority is a given. The issue of long wait times for non-emergent patients was ignored and we were reminded that we should seek help at walk-in clinics, urgent care or better still see our family doctor. I am an 80 year old widow living alone in the community. When I have a concern about a possible heart ailment or an attack of intense vertigo at night I can only call an ambulance. I have made two visits to the ER this year and waited in excess of five hours to see a physician. In one case after 8 hours of vertigo, my family physician INSTRUCTED me to go to ER. In the other I experienced a prolonged AFib attack. On both occasions I was intensely uncomfortable and was treated with disregard. Why couldn't an urgent care section be part of the ER? Why do you want to make it a satellite facility? For those of us who are not considered emergent, it would be much appreciated if, after triage, we were streamlined into an area where we could be attended to in a timely manner and have the hospital services available.

My experience here has been that the staff treat you well. I have gotten along with both nurses (day & night) as well as the doctor. They answered any and all questions I had, explaining in a way that I understood. We had the goal of getting me back on my feet and I am very grateful for their kind and efficient treatment.

You are never going to stop sick people, feeling worried, from coming to Emergency. While working on community resources to keep us all healthy and educated and while setting up 24 hour medical/urgent care clinics, please don't make us feel we are living in a third world country.

Worst hospital ever! I wouldnt even give it one star. I told the triage nurse I have hyperthyroidism and she started giggling as if it was a joke. I felt so uncomfortable. I was registered and then sent into the waiting room in RAZ. I had told the triage nurse all my symptoms and when I spoke to the RAZ nurse my symptoms were all wrong. She made it sound like I had a normal usual cough and cold when it was actually my thyroid effecting my breathing...to the point where I couldn't breathe from my mouth and I was breathing with my nose only. THATS WHY I CAME TO THE HOSPITAL. I WAS UNABLE TO BREATHE! I was also dizzy and feeling nauseous. Five patients that registered AFTER me went before me and when I asked the nurse how much longer will it take she said "Another patient is next and then its your turn." I had been waiting for 3 hours! Not once was I called. I walked out without getting checked because the nurse I asked questions gave me so much attitude like "Its a busy day, either you can wait your turn or leave." I am never coming back to this disgusting, unorganized, rude hospital. They have no regard for their patients. Another lady was also complaining her way out of the hospital while I was being registered. I can see why she was. I am telling all my friends and family to never come here and if you want to save time please find a better hospital and dont come here. Its a serious suggestion. Also, just for those who need to know how ridiculous the nurses are, they talk SO MUCH. They are not doing their job. They dont care youre there. The day I went nurses were laughing and talking about texting someone the word "squirrel" how stupid and immature can you be??? GROW UP. I also overheard a male patient asking for assistance to use the washroom and the nurse kept brushing him off...eventually she lost it and said "SIR! I SUGGEST YOU TO SIT DOWN." And all he said was "Oh ok, thank you.." I kinda felt bad for him..I can go on and on about how this hospital is a nightmare...

I recently attended my family physician regarding an episode I had experienced at home. I was told I should have gone directly to Emergency. Really, what should I do?

As a medical professional I worked at Trillium when it was South Peel Hospital and later Mississauga Hospital. I gave birth to both of my children there. I donate. I have seen the changes that have occurred in the last 50 years.
