After passing the door I found my kids sitting on a bench telling me that they went to security but nobody would help them. So you are telling me that you cannot page or send personnel to find a mother who has 2 underage kids lost at an airport in a foreign country that are now stuck at a checkpoint with no way to get back? Two security guards were smiling and snickering at me while my kids told me what happened. Absolutely appalling! Now, I get that my boys are teens and look older, they are not young kids, but still they are underage and they are lost with me holding their passports and their cell phones. Not only that, but then they tell us we have to go back through security all over again and are on the opposite side of the airport that we need to be on to catch our plane. So after that debacle and trying to navigate our way to the opposite end of the airport with their piss poor signage and lack of helpful employees we made our flight in the nick of time. From now on I'll try my best to find another flight route if I see that the connecting flight is at this airport!

We found a large area with a bunch of chairs and benches and sat all our stuff down in search for restrooms. I didn't see any nearby bathrooms nor any signs and there were no employees as it seemed to be in an emptier part of the airport. My teen boys decided to take a look and went off down a walkway while I watched our stuff. After waiting awhile and no sign of my children I finally found employees, told them the direction my kids went only for them to tell me "oh yes there are bathrooms down the escalator but it leads to the security check point so your kids would not be able to come back up cause the door would lock behind them." I was like what?? These employees were unhelpful with my plight in seeing if security could bring my children up or helping me with all my luggage for 3 people that I now had to drag and carry by myself down an escalator to a security point.

YYZ does tend to cancel flights a little easier than some western Canadian airports due to weather so keep an eye on the weather and delay updates when travelling through there. If you have an extended layover I would highly suggest taking the UP into the Union station for the $25 round trip that it costs. Also very efficient tram which takes you within the airport to each terminal.

Your experience at the airport and any airport for that matter is mostly influenced by the airline. Putting aside the experience controlled by the airplane, the airport has plenty of parking however it's better to park off-site for multi day as its much cheaper. There are plenty of stores to shop and restuantants to eat at but they're expensive in typical airport fashion. The airport is clean and there has been significant improvements over the last few years to improve user experience. Having travelled from Pearson for both business and personal, I can say that wait times for customs and security clearance have vastly improved over the last few years. Overall, very good flying experience at the airport!

Overall a horrible experience, I️ know airports can be like this but it was all the little things that made me write this review! Sorry but any other airport I️ would prefer over this one!

What is truly disappointed me was the dirty international baggage area. I could not believe how disgusting the washrooms were. There was poop stuck in the toilet, it smelled in the washroom, the seat was not fit to sit on and garbage was all over the floor in the washroom area.

It’s big and efficient. They make flying easy and manage the flow of people and traffic very well for its size! It’s definitely a major Canadian hub so there is tons of international travellers.

First when I️ went to the machines to get my customs receipt it broke down. It was okay just went to another one. The second one also broke down right before it printed my receipt. A worker directed me to a third machine and it also broke down. Wasted 30 minutes trying to get though this. She was very understanding about it after we tried a fourth machine and it broke down as well! Customs agent was very easy about it and understanding why I️ didn’t have a receipt. (one star)

I️ usually don’t write reviews like this one but I️ felt like I️ should. I️ understand it’s an airport and hard to not go to being one of the biggest.

Second when I️ was at the security line, my brother had a carry on back pack. It caught on the scanner going into the x-ray machine. The security agent was extremely rude when he ripped it out and threw it in the machine. (Not making it up). My brother was shocked and looked at him like “you have to be kidding”.

Total nightmare experience at this airport! The airport is nice enough and very clean and spacious but also hard to navigate and not a lot of signage showing you where the heck you are at. Our troubles started first thing off the plane.

When we walked out of the baggage area and I looked around there was so much garbage lying around I was shocked. I've never seen Pearson this bad and if I was a new visitor I would be shocked that our city's airport was so dirty. I saw no people cleaning anything. It was disarray. When we went outside to wait for a shuttle I counted at least 10 carts all over the place, nobody there to round them up and put them back.

The security responded quickly with a snarky comment “you put it in like that, what else can I️ do”. Very very unprofessional for a security officer! Like come on!

The plane was full of huge luggage which obviously should have been put underneath. I️ didn’t have enough room to put my stuff up in the cupboards because it was too full! Just confused why the airlines/airport would let them take those on the airplane when they don’t even fit in the tester? Waited for 10 minutes on the plane waited for someone to finally figure out her large suitcase was to big to even fit up in the cupboards!! That could have been figured out before we were all waiting on her!

If I was a visitor to Toronto my first impression of the airport would be a very bad one and that reflects our city's image. If Toronto Pearson can't hire people to clean up they should bring some Mexicans in to come and show them how it's done. I did not see one person cleaning at Pearson, in Mexico I continually saw multiple people cleaning the washrooms, the seats and sweeping the floors. Toronto deserves a cleaner airport and given that we want people to come visit, the airport is their first impression.

I am so sorry to have to write this review but I feel it must be said so that my hometown airport knows and can improve. We were in Cancun Mexico for a week and returned last night. The new customs automation service was quite disorganized and the people directing us were not giving specific information and along with us so many of the other passengers were confused. I understand this is a new system and my suggestion is to have a BACK button on the automation so that we can correct something rather than have to quit the session and wait in line to see an officer. The wording is not very understandable and we were not the only ones who had trouble. I get that new systems need to be improved upon and this wasn't that big of an issue other than it being annoying and taking us longer.

I guess coming from Cancun where they are so clean it's obsessive. I constantly saw staff cleaning, Toronto Pearson, Cancun Terminal 4 airport is a 5 star and you are a 1 star in our books. I'm very sad to say this, I am born, raised and have always lived here and am embarrassed to write this but it's necessary to share in hopes of improvements.
